I know that I get myself into some tight spots just by talking too much to new found casino game online buddies and I probably deserve everything I get but I must tell you of a time when I believe a casino cooler was in a casino where I played. For those of you who have ever watched the movie , The Cooler , you know what a casino cooler is. For those of you who haven’t , then go watch the movie.
OK , for those of you who haven’t seen the movie The Cooler , I’ll just give you a quick run down of what a cooler is , whether they exist or not in a casino. A casino cooler is someone who has such horrible luck that the person is sent to a hot table to cool things off . The cooler is an employee of the casino and they are supposed to walk up with all of their negative feelings in tow and naturally , according to the movie The Cooler , bring bad luck to the table he touches. His very presence is supposed to ‘cool things off’ at that particular table.
While I’m not really sure that I believe in the casino cooler theory , the movie was really cute and I do have a quick story to tell you about someone I met one time in a casino that could’ve easily been a casino cooler. I’ve since ran into him at the same casino and recognize that he is a regular there so sometimes I wonder. Some guys play bingo daily and at regular time also, it’s strange to understand.
My experience with this man started at about 11:00 in the morning on an extended trip in Mississippi. I was about a thousand dollars away from where I wanted to be and planned to leave at some point later that afternoon and at least drive most of the way home . I basically had one foot out the door when fate put me in line to meet this man that should be employed by the casino as a casino cooler , if he isn’t already.
it started with his appearance at a very hot craps table. Several of us at the table had enjoyed descent roles and no one had experienced a ‘bad roll’ until this gentleman walked up. On his first roll, he rolls a two. Then , he rolls a 12 , then a 6 followed by a seven. Well, I thought maybe it was just time for the table to turn south so I talked to him for a minute as the dealers cashed me in and then I headed up to my room.
I went up to my room and packed my bag, then went back downstairs and started on another craps table. The gentleman who had ‘cooled off the table’ earlier spotted me and as the dice are about to leave my hand slaps down one hundred dollars which caught the dice in mid-air. I don’t have to tell you what I rolled. He was very apologetic but with a hefty sum across the board , I’m sure I wasn’t particularly forgiving. Two players sevened out immediately after my roll so I cashed in and headed for a blackjack table because the baccarat table wasn’t open.
I bought in at the blackjack table for $500.00 and was up about $100.00 and decided to start betting that much per hand. I won a couple of hands. Then , the tables turned quickly. Dealer blackjack, dealer blackjack, dealer 20 , dealer blackjack, dealer blackjack , and I kid you not. After the fourth dealer blackjack in five hands , I got up and bumped right into my new ‘cooler’ friend who quickly said , “ I hope I didn’t bring you bad luck , you looked like you were doing good over here and so I came over to watch and see if I should play with you.”
Seeing as I really believe in luck and fate , I knew my trip home was going to be postponed. However , since my bags were packed , I did move uk online casinos and went home a week later with the amount I intended to win.
